The San Francisco Bay Area is not quite a "Megapolis," but it does have many aspects that match up with a Megapolis area. A Megapolis is an area that contains many large cities in a close proximity to each other. The Bay Area does contain a few big cities in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and Sacramento. Despite the tight cluster of cities, it is not quite the same as the typical Megapolis as there exists on the East Coast, due to the lower population. However, with hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) of tourists filtering through the area every year, San Francisco is the center of a mini-Megapolis in Northern California.
